There are three types of web site accounts maintained by ISS:

• WWW
• Acad
• Research
  
  

WWW Accounts

WWW accounts are located on http://www.gwu.edu and are for official and affiliate web sites.

• Official Web Sites
  Official web sites are created by official units of The George Washington University. Official units are defined as officially constituted schools; academic departments; programs, centers, and institutes; administrative departments; GW Faculty Senate; and official faculty, administrative, and library committees.
  
  
• Affiliated Web Sites
  Affiliated web sites are created by units within the University that do not have official status - as defined above - but have been identified as an affiliate by an official unit. Official units will determine which groups will receive affiliated status and be linked to the unit's web site. Affiliated groups may include student groups, ad hoc faculty and staff groups, professional organizations, and conferences. Affiliated web pages are not official publications of the University.
  

Acad Accounts

Acad accounts are for individual courses or classes, professor/instructor web sites, and personal web sites. These sites are located at http://home.gwu.edu.


Research Accounts

Research accounts are for academic research projects that require intense computing resources on a UNIX platform.
